Making A Noise About Bullying Event

We did our bit to Make A Noise About Bullying with our special event for pupils at Gulliver’s Valley on Monday 13th November 203, it was attended by 22 schools and marked the beginning of National Anti-bullying Week.

As part of the event, and across other Rotherham schools, pupils wore odd socks in support of the theme of everyone being different and being equal. They also ‘made a noise’ collectively with party blowers demonstrating how we are united in preventing bullying. Pupils added pledges to a pledge wall, showing their commitment to stopping bullying and throughout the event, took part in activities, including learning how to be an Upstander.Rotherham College Drama students also performed interactive Forum Theatre centred around the theme and children were given the opportunity to hotseat the characters and question their actions.

The Mayor Of Rotherham attended and presented schools with The Rotherham Anti-Bullying award which celebrates their achievements in school.

The Rotherham Anti-Bullying Awards' aim is to give accredited recognition to the commendable work of Rotherham and South Yorkshire schools in effectively preventing, responding to, and managing incidents of bullying and peer conflict. It promotes the development of a culture and policy that sits comfortably within the safeguarding ethos of a school or setting and should build on the curriculum work linked to inclusion, within Personal, Social and Health Education.

The award builds upon good practice that is already in place, supporting the development and implementation of robust anti-bullying practice and policy.

The event was sponsored yet again by our partners RoSIS.
